[General] I am majored in English

Hello,

I would like to know the appropriate way to give the information of me being majored ( I have already graduated) in English; and that my option is " Language Sciences".

Should I say: " I am English majored( my major is English, my major was English...) and I am/was specialized in " Language Sciences" ". or

"I am English majored and my option is "Language Sciences"".

It's really confusing to me.

American usage:

While you are in school: I am majoring in English. My major is English. My concentration is ...
Now that you have graduated: I majored in English. My major was English. My concentration was ...

Do not try to use the passive construction "was majored in." No one did it to you; the passive is incorrect (in American English).

In Britain, we don't 'major' in a subject.

While we are at university (not in school) we study/take English (or whatever subject or combination of subjects it is). At some of the older universities, we still read English.


I have/took/gained a degree in English. I have a BA in English.

How about when you major/take English, and then you choose a sub-branch. How would it be correct to state that information? I majored in English, and I specialized in Language Sciences./ I took English and I specialized in Language Sciences?

I have a BA in English.

Yes, we use this too.

(But we don't "take" or "gain" a degree on this side of the Atlantic.)
