I am not up for it?

I heard this conversation on the television:

A: I am sorry to tell you that for personal reasons, I will not be able to attend the farewell lunch.

B: This lunch is for you.

A: I am not up for it. I want to leave quietly.

What does "not up for it" means?
 
"Be up for" indicates a sense of willingness to do or interest in doing something, so probably a synonym would be "be interested in".
