Hi.

Why is Past Simple being used in green sentence instead of Present Perfect?

- It's lunchtime, everyone!
- I don't want lunch, Mum. I ate too many crisps and now have a stomachache.

The action have happened in the near past and is still relevant now, seems like Present Perfect to me or Past Simple is also acceptable in this case?
The sentence was taken from Go getter 3 Student's Book.

Note my corrections above. Don't capitalise the names of tenses. They're not proper nouns.

I'd prefer the present perfect in that sentence but the past simple isn't incorrect.
