I came across this sentence on one of the Facebook pages :
I can't ride a bike very well. Oh ! No .I .....
A- will crash
B- am going to crash
C- crash
D- won't crash
If the context is ok, am going to is fine to me as the action is about to happen

Yes – B is fine, though A is possible.

"Oh ! No .I" is wrong. Don't put a space before a full stop, comma, question mark or exclamation mark. Always put a space after them.

Do you have more explanation?

abo.omar when I teach on this topic, I point out that "is going" and "will" can often be used interchangeably with no difference in meaning.

However, in general we use "going to” for:

· planned events in the future
· to predict happenings for which we have evidence (as in your example).

Examples:

  • The world cup final is going to be played at Wembley.
  • I’ve planned a surprise birthday party. It is going to happen.
  • "I knew the Conservatives had run out of ideas. They are going to lose the election."
  • "The clouds look very dark. I think it is going to rain.

In your example we have evidence, so I agree with those favouring "B".

But the differences can be quite subtle. For that reason I advise my students to observe usage when reading or listening.
