Hello.

Have I used "refer back" correctly?

By that time, I had graduated but I decided to refer back to my university professors to do another research.
 
1. I'm not clear what you mean by "refer back".
2. "another research" is wrong. "Research" is uncountable.

I used it instead of "went back to". It means I used to work with them. I went back to them to do another study.

Did you go back and work with them again on a new study (or a new piece of research) or did you simply contact them, after graduating, for a bit of help?
