I bumped into someone who was once my friend today. She was a bit surprised that I had unfriended her because she couldn't send me any messages. I told the reason is "I don't want to be friends with people who don't appreciate kindness."

I referred some tutoring jobs to her. I didn't ask her for any commission (usually here when we refer a job to others, we get commission.) but this person didn't even say "thank you" to me. I was really discouraged so I unfriended her. I don't want to make friends with people who don't know how to be grateful for me because I'm always grateful for people who have helped me.

Is the italic sentence natural?

I bumped into someone who was once my friend today.
Can you see the potential problem with this sentence? I was hoping that you'd noticed that I frequently move your time marker to the beginning of your sentences. It seems that you haven't noticed.

Sorry, how about "Today, I bumped into someone who was once my friend"?

I did notice that but I thought it was okay to write the time at the end of the sentence. Sorry.

Please help me with my italic sentence when you're not busy.

I'd replace "don't appreciate kindness" with "are not grateful".
It's "grateful to me/people", not "grateful for me/people".
