Dear all,

Let's say I was planning to study in another country, but gave it up for some reason.

In that situation do the following sentences sound okay to describe the change of plan?

1. I gave up on studying abroad.

2. I gave up studying abroad.

3. I gave up my plan to study abrod.

4. I gave up the idea of studying abroad.

Thank you!

1. I gave up on studying abroad. No. "I gave up on the idea of studying abroad."

2. I gave up studying abroad. No. This means you had started studying abroad and then you gave up and went back home."

3. I gave up my plan to study abroad. This works.

4. I gave up the idea of studying abroad. Better with "on" as in my first example.

Thank you!
