Which sentence is more correct? or Are they both acceptable?

1. I go to school by foot.

2. I go to school on foot.
 
Which sentence is more correct? or Are they both acceptable?

1. I go to school by foot.

2. I go to school on foot.

Both are correct but I don't know how the people designing your tests feel about it. Perhaps some ESL teachers can comment. :-D
