Hello.

If someone says: "I have a headache" can we say: "the same" or "same".
Does it mean "I have a headache too"? How can we say it in good English?

Thanks.

You could say "Same here".

Why don't we use "the" before "same"?

Not a teacher, but I'm trying to explain it with the use of Russian, sorry for the inconvenience to non-Russian speakers!

I have a headache (=у меня болит голова)
So do I (=у меня тоже)

"so do I" or "so am I" is a general expression to state that you are in the same situation.

"I have a wife and kids" - "So do I"
"But I'm a doctor!" - "So am I"

Please don't do that in this forum, which is for the benefit of all members. We use only English here.

No, they are not. It is the 'so/neither' plus BE or an auxiliary/modal that is one way of stating that people are in the same situation. There are also other ways - including the expression this thread is about, 'same here'.

I always reply "so do I", I just wanted to know if it's possible use "some" in this case. :-D

I'm confused. Where do you want to use the word "some"?

Typo, "same", see original post!

Thanks, Peter. I realised that after I'd hit Submit but I left the question there to bring Boris' attention to it.
