What is the right way to say I thought something many times [STRIKE]over[/STRIKE] in the past?

"I have thought [about] this so many times."
or
"I used to think [about] that [STRIKE]so many times[/STRIKE] a lot."
or [STRIKE]none[/STRIKE] neither of the above?

First, see my corrections above. It is important to follow these rules of written English:

- Start every sentence with a capital letter.
- End every sentence with one appropriate punctuation mark.
- Always capitalise the word "I".
- Don't put a space after opening quotation marks or before closing quotation marks.

Your sentences can be used with the corrections shown.

Context will dictate whether you need "about" or not.

John: Do you think about global warming?
Jane: I used to think about it a lot but I have more important things to worry about now.

John: I think Brad Pitt is the best actor in the world.
Jane: I used to think that but now I think Jake Gyllenhaal is better.
