Danny took Abbott to basement:

Danny: I came down here last night because none of this is making any sense. I mean, I'm with you. Conklin was a nut. But a traitor? I just can't get there.

What does "there" in "get there" refer to?

Source: The Bourne Supremacy (a 2004 American action-thriller film featuring Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne character)

I can accept that he was mad, but not a traitor.

For the benefit of our learners who might not have stumbled across this before:

mad (AmE) = angry (BrE)
mad (BrE) = crazy (AmE)
