One of my students wrote "I like eating very much. I like cheeses. [...]"

I think it's OK to say "I like cheeses" - the noun "cheese" can be used countably.

Should I correct it to "I like cheese"?
 
If I corrected it to "I like many kinds of cheeses. For example ... ", would it be any better than the original sentence?
 
No. The singular is still more natural in that context.

Also '... many kinds of meat/beer/pasta/fish etc.
 
What about: I like the various types of cheese?
