I like it most or the most?

I was sure that both versions are correct:
1. I like it most
or full version:
I like it most of all
2. I like it the most

But a teacher has corrected 'I like it the most' crossing out 'the'. Was he right?
 
"I like it the most" is commonly used in colloquial BrE.

So I can use it in an informal letter to a friend.
'The last point of the evening was the presentation about food which people liked the most"
Is there any possible explanation for marking 'the' as a mistake?

Your sentence is fine with "the most".
