This is the excerpt from my test booklet, there is no answer.
I would like to know what the answer is.

Quesiton: What has been sent with letter?
A) A catalog of eyeglasses
B) A discount offer

If the answer has to be A or B, it can only be B.
The passage says that the enclosed flyer contains the details of the offer, while there's nothing at all about catalogs of eyeglasses.
Why? How did you read it?

I agree with you.
I chose (B) as an answer with the same reason as yours.
But among test takers, there are a lot of different opinions.

Some say that the store might contain a catalog with a letter showing different kinds of eyeglasses to choose from.
They say the flyer means a catalog.

So I am seeking your expert opinions ^^
If anyone else has opinions, please let me know.

You have to weigh the certainty of a discount offer (it clearly states they are offering 10% off) versus a maybe of a catalog.

Flyers are generally one page, or one sheet of paper folded which are mailed or handed out.

Those multi-page ads (usually from supermarkets) are sometimes called inserts or insert ads because they are inserted inside a newspaper. Sometimes they are stacked on a stand at the door of a supermarket. Often we called them weekly ads because they come out once a week. Sometimes we call them by the supermarket name, like Safeway ad.

The glossy ads (usually from department stores) are like booklets and are usually mailed to you or inserted in a weekend newspaper. They're almost like a catalog, but with less pages listing items on sale. We call them mainly by the store name, like Macy's ad.

Sometimes, a department store will mail you a seasonal catalog of items for sale for that upcoming season (generally the sale comes before the season). We call those by the seasonal name (Macy's Fall Sale catalog).
