I sit on the last row of the classroom, and I sometimes cannot see the words on the blackboard very clearly. (My bold.)

Can I use "in" instead of "on" in the above sentence?
 
Only 'in' is possible in AmE as well.
 
Also, note that BrE would say the back row, not the last row.
