Hello there, I am a mediocre student in English. Here are some words and how I used them in sentences of my own. Please check them.

Hallow -- In past, kings were considered hallow and beyond objection and criticism.
Maim -- The soldier was maimed in warfare, but now can do all his chores by prosthetic leg.
Pretense-- Children sometime make illness the pretense of not going to school.
Disillusion -- Mao disillusioned his idle nation.
Vile -- Vile democracy is deemed preferable to dictatorship.
Zest -- Asians are usually fond of zest foods.

Thanks in advance, Regards.

Thanks a lot dear Champleon. I have noted down my mistakes. I, however, could not get the point of not using Vile and Zest in your suggested sentences. Thanks again.

Are 'vile' and 'zest' used correctly below?
'A bad form of democracy is deemed preferable to vile dictatorship.'
'Asians usually have a zest for spicy food.'
