I want to say "my friend would really appreciate the way we will respect him for what he has done for our community(I just want to say recognition), like volunteering and contributing almost all his time to supporting people and tutoring his peers three times a week"

I just want to say that "my friend would feel we have respected him for what he has done to our community(Recognition) and he will start doing much more." in a better way (how my friend will feel after winning the Golden Award for what he has done)
