I am a T.A. and I am going to have a Zoom meeting with my students who are mostly freshmen and are going to take their very first classes at the university.

Would you please check the followings for me (I want to welcome them)?

I wanted to welcome all of those who are very new to the university. I am sure you are gonna learn a lot so am I.

I wanted to welcome all of those that this quarter is their very first one at this university.

Orientation

Perhaps:

I want to welcome everybody who is here for the first time. My name is _________________ _______________, and I am going to tell you everything you need to know to get started.

Don't use casual contractions like gonna and, especially, wanna in writing with your students. It's unprofessional.

I recommend that you don't use them in a formal speech to them either, even if it is on Zoom. They're new students - you want to make a good impression.

"Gonna" is normal speech in American English, suitable in nearly any register. Replacing it with "going to" would come across as pompous hypercorrection.

It would sound sloppy in BrE, at least until you're fairly familiar with the students and start speaking to them as you would with your friends.

Orientation

It's a very brief speech. Even though you repeat yourself, I would like to think you have more to say than that.

Why all of those and not all of you?
