→The action was finished long before the past.
1) B. I have written a novel this year.
→The action was finished near to the present.
2) A. I am writing a novel this year.
→The action is in progress during the period of this year.
2) B. I have been writing a novel this year.
→The action is in progress up to the present.
3) A. I will make a cake by five o’clock this afternoon.
→The action will be finished before five o’clock this afternoon.
3) B. I will have made a cake by five o’clock this afternoon.
→The action will be finished before five o’clock this afternoon.
3) A. and 3) B. have the same meaning.
