Context:
We need one more person to join in a chorus. Tom sings well. So I invite him by saying this.

I'd like you to join us in the chorus.

I know the “us” is not so necessary, but I still want to know if the sentence makes sense with it.

I'd say I'd like you to join our choir.

What do you mean by 'chorus'? Are you talking about a group of singers or a piece of music?

Do you mean something like The Hallelujah Chorus?

Yes, I mean a specific song, a whole piece of music in itself, not one part of a longer piece.

A chorus is part of a song which is repeated

What about:
I'd like you to join our choir in singing the chorus/song?

Yes, I mean a specific song, a whole piece of music in itself ...
Why don't you tell us the title and composer?

What is its subject matter? On what special occasion is it being performed?

Maybe I misused the word “chorus” in the OP.

Let me say a few more words about the background.

Our school is going to hold a contest in which every class sends a team of 20 students to sing a song together on the stage. After singing, each team gets a score. The team who will get the highest score wins.
One of our team members is ill so we have to choose another person to substitute him. Tom is the proper person. In this case, I want to know if I can say the sentence--I'd like you to join us in the chorus--to Tom.

The song we chose is a Chinese song named Singing For Our Motherland, which is my translation.

In that case, I'd call the team of 20 a choir.

I still don't understand what you mean. Your use of chorus is confusing. In post #4, you say that by 'chorus', you mean the music, not the people, and then in post #10 you say that you mean the people, not the music.

If you mean the people, say: I'd like you to join our choir.

I'd like you to join our choir = I'd like you to become a member of our singing group
I'd like you to join in with our choir = I'd like you to sing along when our choir sings
I'd like you to join in with the chorus = I'd like you to sing along only with the refrain of the song.
