Dear All,

Please help.

Which should I use between is or was if I want to use the second conditional like the following?

"If you met a man who is/was (were) as rich as Bill Gates...?"

Thank you in advance.

Dear all, If you must use a greeting, stick with "Hello".

Please help me. Which Should I use between "is" or "was" if I want to use the second conditional like in the following?

"If you met a man who is/was (were) as rich as Bill Gates ..."

Thank you in advance. Unnecessary. Thank us after we help you, by clicking on the "Thank" icon.

Note my corrections above.

Were is the one least likely to be used here because it's already hypothetical. I'd probably go for was, but am not against is.

You could, of course, avoid the entire issue by saying "If you met a man as rich as Bill Gates, ...".
