[Grammar] "If you see him, would you give him this?"

The below sentence is from "TESTING"
(conditional).
"If you see him, would you give him this?"

I chose it as a correct answer .
The Answer is "not correct".

"Would" cannot used for making a request in this case?
Or this is because "conditional" test.. ?

The answer they're looking for is probably will, but "would" is also correct and natural at least in AmE.
