I'll join late or later?

Which one is more common in American English:

Thanks for inviting me to tomorrow's party, but
I'll join a little later.

or

I'll join little late.
 
"I'll join little late" isn't a proper response.

I would probably say I was going to come a little late.
 
Thanks for inviting me to the party tomorrow night. I'm going to come but I wanted to let you know I'll be a bit late. (Simply a statement)

Thanks for inviting me to the party tomorrow night. My boyfriend will be there around 8pm but I'm working tomorrow so I'll come along a bit later. (A comparative statement when another time has already been specified)
 
"I'll be there late" or "I might be there later" (assuming you don't know)
"I'll join you later"

Lots of choices here...
