Hi,
Today I posted a pun about people overweight and Phil was a bit irritated. I didn't mean it because I myself was overweight but I still apologized to him. After he accepted my apologies he added "Well okay… but please understand, being overweight is not our personal choice and it’s not easy, don’t laugh at fat people".
I then said "Sorry again. I didn't pay attention to that pun at all. I'll never laugh at others because everyone is just part of me."
I wonder if the italic sentence is idiomatic here. If I laugh at others, it means I laught at myself. I believe when I think others are imperfect, it's because my inner self is imperfect.
