Hello,

What does "pulling for" mean in the sentence below?

A. I think Sacramento has a strong team this year.
B: True, but I'm pulling for the Lakers all the way.

Thanks for your help in advance.

"Pulling for" means the same as "rooting for." As in rooting for a sports team.

In the UK I think a fan 'roots for' and a team-member 'pulls for' (but maybe that's just me).

b

So meaning:

to support or encourage a person or team.

Thanks.
