I'm writing a proposal for programmes about unusual hobbies.
I have a question related to the use of an article in the following sentence:
"I'm sure that in <a><the> world where most people's lives are trivialized and flattened your decision to make a series of programmes featuring unusual hobbies will be warmly welcomed by viewers".
I wonder what article I should choose in this sentence. I would use the because I speak about our world, but my English teacher insist upon a.
To be honest, I don't understand why. As I see it, a means any world, not only ours.
Perhaps we could use both?
Could you be so kind as to explain to me your choice please?
