Hello, everyone.
I'd like to ask something. Is there any difference between 'in this forum' and 'on this forum', and which one is more popular?
I found some examples here http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/forum

  • In the meantime, let us know your thoughts in the forums.
  • Explicit indication of posters originating IP addresses is a rare feature on Internet forums.
So it seems both are acceptable.
Thank you very much.

In most cases, you can use either.

Click here for a rough idea of which is more popular (bookmark that site for future reference).

I am not a teacher.

Bear in mind that 'forum' as a type of Internet site didn't exist in 1800. At that time it was mostly a physical place, or a metaphorical representation of one, and if you were there you could only be in it not on it.

Internet forums have only been around for about 30 years. We say 'on the Internet' so by extension 'on the (Internet) forum' is perhaps gaining ground. The Ngram Viewer doesn't concern itself with the various definitions of 'forum' so the results should be interpreted if possible (or at least put into perspective) in order to extract meaningful information from them. It is, nevertheless, a useful tool.

Is it very common in and on at most case?
