Hi guys,

If I am talking to two people together and after talking to them for a while. If I feel that I need to talk to one of them alone. I mean I don't want that second person to stand there while I am talking to first person and I want that second person to leave that room for some time. So what should I say. "I want to talk to him in person or personaly so can we get some privacy". "In person" and "Personaly" are both same and interchangeable?

"I want to talk to him privately."

"Would you excuse us for a moment? I need a private word with XXX." It would be polite for you and the person you need to talk to to move away from the third person, rather than stand there and wait for the third person to leave.

so when do we say "I want to talk to him in person or personaly"?

One might say "I want to talk to him in person" to someone on the telephone or to a receptionist in an office.

How about meet in person. Are "In person and prrsonaly" same?

How about "meet in person"? Are "In person" and "personally" the same?

Tufguy, tufguy, tufguy. Sigh. You've stopped proofreading your posts, haven't you? In your title "person" was spelt as "prrson" and in your last post "personally" was spelt "prrsonaly".
And you've forgotten what you've been told over and over again about putting the words you are querying inside separate sets of quotation marks.

tufguy: Are "in person" and "personally" the same?
Tarheel: No.

In fact, they are not even close to being the same. If you are talking to someone in person you are (more than likely) in the same room with that person, and you can see and hear that person. Probably the most common usage of "personally" is in the expression "He took it personally" meaning that a person took offense at something which may or may not have been intended to give offense. (There are other possibilities.)

If you want to find examples of its use, google "personally" and you will find many examples.
