It would be better as "Mr Josh has just won a gold medal in the over-eighty's weight lifting competion".
Yes, you are right. I thought that perhaps there was only one person aged over eighty who would want to take part in a weight lifting competition.;-)I'd prefer '...in the over-eighties' weight lifting competition'.
