[Grammar] In vs Within vs During

Sir can anyone tell me what does the sentence mean when we use these words:- in/within/during/since in the blank and which option is the best to use. The sentence is this:-John seated in the visitor's gallery, glanced at his watch for the third time ......the past five minutes. Thank you.
 
Welcome to the forum. You will receive lots of corrections to your English here, intended to help you improve. In this spirit, please don't combine a colon with a hyphen. This combination isn't used in international English.

In other words, write The sentence is this:, not The sentence is this:-​.
 
In case it's not clear from GoesStation's post, you shouldn't use a colon followed by a comma either.

The sentence is this: My dog has fleas. :tick:
The sentence is this:- My dog has fleas. :cross:
