infinitive negative

Hi, I need help with the following sentence:' Slowly, not to wake him up, he opened the door....' I know that this isn't the right way to express it, but I can't find another way to translate the infinitive negative sentence.
Thank you for your help.
 
How about;
In order to not wake him up, he opened the door slowly.
 
Slowly, so as not to awaken him, he opened........
