"Inform your parents that you are going on an excursion next week," the teacher...

"Inform your parents that you are going on an excursion next week," the teacher told his pupils.

I have reported the speech as follows. Which words in bold should I use? Thanks.

The teacher told his pupils that they were going on an excursion the next week/the following week.
