Inverters are the back ups for electricity. If the power goes out or the electricity goes off you still get every appliance running until it comes back on.

Please check my sentence.

Inverters don't supply electricity. They simply change DC to AC. The word you're looking for is 'generator'.

Generators can create electricity as a backup power source.

"The power goes out" and "the electricity goes off" mean the same thing so the start of your second sentence was tautologous.

Come on, tufguy. I know you can count!

To convert DC to AC, you need an electronic device called an inverter.

No one's disputing that, and that's exactly what Skrej said in post #2. The point is that the thing the OP is describing simply isn't an inverter.

I thought the OP was talking about an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), which is a type of continuous power system that provides automated backup electric power to a load when the input power source or mains power fails.

Which is a battery and an inverter.

You got it. Nobody has generators here now. I haven't seen one in decades. We all have inverters in case there is a power outage.
