What is the correct sentence here?
"The best you've got are your parents."
"The best you've got is your parents."

What is the correct sentence here?
"The best you've got are your parents."
"The best you've got is your parents."

It is neither singular nor plural. The word "parents" is plural.

Invert the sentences to decide which is correct:

'Your parents is the best you've got' or

'Your parents are the best you've got'.

What do you think?

I'm sorry to butt in, but how is the sentence used?

"When you are at a loss for what to do with your kids, the best you've got (...) your parents." (I think I'll leave out the verb for Vibhanu)

Is it used in the right/natural context?

Thank you.

I have no idea what the OP meant by "The best you have are your parents". The best what?

The best source to ask for parenting advice.

Well, that's the impression I got from tzfujimino's post but I thought they were just suggesting a usage. I don't know how we're meant to know what the OP (vibhanu) meant.

Then it should be "The best you've got are your parents? " .Right?
(Sorry for the delayed reply.I completely forgot my this post)
