Our gentle Don is adorned with youthful widows;
Our gentle father Don is blossomed with orphans;
…………

----AND QUIET FLOWS THE DON (the inscription)

Is blossomed a perfect form or a past participle, as blossom is usually untransitive? If a perfect form, how should we think about the is and with orphans?

"To be blossomed" doesn't seem so common? Would you have such a feeling?

Another similar adjectival -(e)d form "agreed" is common though and dictionaries usually describe it as an adjective.

That's from a famous book by a Russian writer.
Here's the Russian version: "Украшен-то наш тихий Дон молодыми вдовами. Цветен наш батюшка тихий Дон сиротами. Наполнена волна в тихом Дону отцовскими, материнскими слезами".

Here's the link to a translated version of the book -> https://ia902704.us.archive.org/24/items/andquietflowsdon00shol/andquietflowsdon00shol_bw.pdf (translated by Stephen Garry; revised and completed by Robert Daglish)

This version offers the following rendering of the text:
"Not by the plough is our glorious earth furrowed. . . .
Our earth is furrowed by horses' hoofs.
And sown is our earth with the heads of Cossacks.
Fair is our quiet Don with young widows.
Our father, the quiet Don, blossoms with orphans.

And the waves of the quiet Don are filled with fathers' and mothers' tears."

Thank you very much. The version you give sounds more easily understandable.
