Is it correct to use dashes in quotes?

Do the same rules regarding dashes apply when quoting something?

For example, is this sentence correct? Or should I put a fullstop instead of a dash?

'If he catches us, it's all over -- he'll kill us,' he said.

If you're quoting something you want to quote it exactly. That's the rule here.
