I'm doing a research. In my research, I'm investigating the components of the curriculum in some countries. In my final report, each country has just one component. Now I want to tabulate my data. As there is just one component in the content of the table, should I write 'component' or 'components' as the headings of the table?

I would say:

I'm doing some research.

I agree with @Tarheel. Some research or just plain research. "A research" is wrong.
