[Vocabulary] Is there any difference between "be capable of" and "can"?

I know that the word "can" and the phrase "be able to" are interchangeable.
And I also wonder is there any difference between "be capable of" and "can" in the far below sentence if I change the phrase "is capable of" into "can". Is it make any difference in meaning?

"Our restaurant is capable of catering for several hundred people."(this is original sentence from book.)

Yes, as long as you change "catering" to "cater". There would be no difference in meaning.
