first of all when this question below is asked, what is the correct answer

Question
How many people are there in your family?

Answers
a There are four people in my family, they are my parents,my younger sister and myself.

b There are four people in my family, they are my parents,my younger sister and me.

so which of this is the correct answer when we talk about grammar?

thanks

It should be "me". Your sentences are punctuated incorrectly. As they stand, they are comma splices, independent clauses connected by only a comma.

There are four people in my family. They are my parents, my younger sister, and me.
There are four people in my family: my parents, my younger sister, and me.
There are four people in my family; they are my parents, my younger sister, and me.

That punctuation, with the 'Oxford comma' before the and is fine, but many people would not use it.

As you are an English teacher, how would you answer this question if it was posed to you by one of your students in class?

I agree, but I always use the Oxford comma. There are times when its omission causes confusion. I have never found its use to be a problem.

And how would you correct the capitalisation and punctuation if a student wrote
