"Saying" is fine if the person gets upset every time they say those words.

No, I think the message is that "This heart gets broken by [someone else] saying 'Dear' or 'Honey', let alone by [someone else] yelling and insulting." It's acceptable colloquially.

"I've been really sensitive lately so you don't need to yell at me to make me cry more. Even people being nice to me upsets me!" It's not exactly the same as your first post but it's closer to what you wrote in post #10.

To get closer to "it's not necessary yelling at me or insulting me to make me cry... these days this damn heart's broken even by saying dear and honey...", I would say "There's no need to yell at me or insult me to make me cry. These days, all it takes to break my heart is hearing 'dear' or 'honey' ".
