Dear friends,

In the first part of "Home Alone" Kevin stays at home alone after his family have left for Paris forgetting to pick him in the morning of deparure. While alone, Kevin goes shopping himself for the first time in his life.

In the product shop he selects a toothbrush and asks the shop assistant at the cash register:

"Is this toothbrush approved by the American Dental Association?"

Shouldn't it be "Is this toothbrush approved of by the American Dental Association?"

See the difference between approve and approve of here,

Thanks 5jj!

Actualyy, I know that there are "approve" and "approve of". When I was posting my original sentence I was thinking about the difference regarding the toothbrush.

Probably, the Russian translation of Kevin's words confused me. In the Russian translation the meaning is correct, but the verb "approve" is translated as "approve of". It's also the matter of the two languages, not just a mistake.

Now I see Kevin was right!

Thanks again!
