What does "It’s over" mean here? Does it mean "Boris Johnson will never be trusted again; his credit is gone/destroyed/over"?

Boris Johnson will never be trusted again. Families have endured unspeakable tragedies during this lockdown and yet have followed the govt’s instructions. His political advisor ignored those instructions. Johnson shows his utter disrespect for the British people. It’s over.

Yes, except that "his credit is gone/destroyed/over" doesn't make sense. It suggests that the days of the British people trusting or believing what BoJo says or, more importantly, doing what he says, are over.

It's a sweeping indictment. Though he's not addressing budget issues directly, in Horton's opinion, Johnson will never be trusted again about anything — not the pandemic, not the budget, not anything.

In that case, the editor of The Lancet, one the highest impact factor scientific journals in the world, is misusing his position IMO. That would be politics pretending to be science, and I am no fan of Boris Johnson.
