I have an impression that people use “whether...or...” instead of “if...or...” in the context of the sentence above. Since I’m not a native speaker, I’m most likely to be wrong. I’d like to read you comment.
 
In the context, "if" and "whether" are the same and can be used interchangeably.

I have an impression that think people tend to use “whether...or...” instead of “if...or...”

Note my corrections above. In that sentence, both "if" and "whether" work.
