Hi, and welcome to the forum. :hi: Number one is correct if you fix it as above.

Is that really the name of the company? With the "Production(s)" on it?

"Butcher and Monk Productions" is a natural name for a company. It makes, or hopes to make, many productions.

Are Butcher and Monk people's names or professions?

Happy New Year to you and all the members.

Thank you so much for quick help. I was waiting for my email to notify me. You are the best.

So my questions again are why the rest are wrong?

Could you help me on these again please? Thanks

So my questions again are why the rest are wrong?

They are not exactly wrong, but they are less natural than Butcher and Monk Productions. In other words they are less likely to be the choice of native speakers. Since this is a name, though, the others may be possible if you have a good reason for preferring them.

By the way, may I mention my favourite fictional company name, from Peter Matthiessen's At Play in theFields of the Lord: Wolfie & Moon Inc. (Small Wars and Demolition).

Just to confirm, you are talking about a film/arts production company, right?
Also, please answer Rover_KE's question above.

Happy New Year to you too. Please note my corrections above.

Note the correct way to construct a question. Remember to end every sentence (even a one-word sentence) with a closing punctuation mark. Don't capitalise common nouns. Don't try to make your own emoticons. If you really need one, click on the :) icon in the toolbar and choose one.

If you want to refer to the professions of the people in the company name, you could use "The Butcher and The Monk Productions" so #2 was possible. If it's their surnames, then use "Butcher and Monk Productions". The other two sound odd with just one article.

You don't need to wait for an email to find out if your thread has any responses. Simply click on "Quick Links" at the top and choose "My Threads". Any thread titles that appear in bold have new responses.

Sorry for not answering your question initially. When I got too many answers, I got lost. :)

What happened to Butcher and Monk Productions?

Hi, Tarheel
Butcher and Monk productions sounds very correct to me. I know I got it right. But, I was thinking of emphasizing either Butcher or Monk.

Tell us what "Butcher" and "Monk" mean, as you were asked earlier. Are they peoples' surnames or are they their professions?

They are symbols, Ying and Yang. Violence and Non-violence. They are opposite. And I am in favor of Butcher. For me the Butcher represents reality, struggle, raw, honest ,aggressive, ,and passionate toward the life. On the contrary, the monk for me is non-violence but passive. Lost, unknown ,and undecided, and waiting for divine intervention.

I am trying to emphasize my meaning toward these names. I hope my grammars are mostly correct. :)

This name might work: The Butcher and the Monk Production Company.

The problem we've been struggling with is that both "Butcher" and "Monk" can be surnames. My suggested name helps the reader understand them as a profession and an avocation.

Don't you have to have both yin and yang?

Doesn't the monk have any good qualities? (I'm not sure what you mean by "Lost, unknown and undecided" there.)
