Hi,

It takes an hour to drive to the airport. It takes an hour to fly to Chicago. In other words, it takes just as much time as driving to the airport.

Is the bold part correct? If not, can you give me options?

Thank you.

An hour isn't a very long time so I find "just as much time" a little inappropriate. I would just say "it takes the same length of time as driving to the airport".

Back when the airlines used mainline jets on the route, flights from my nearest airport to Chicago had the same arrival and departure times. Now that they've all switched to smaller, slower regional jets, the flight takes seven or eight minutes. :)
