Hello.

Does it make sense to say "I've been trying to persuade myself"?

Is this okay?

I've been trying to persuade myself to stay with her, but I failed. I have contacted a lawyer about divorce.

It's OK. It means you've been having an inner debate.

I'd probably use "I've failed" after starting with "I've been trying". I'd also say "a divorce lawyer".

How about: ...trying to bring myself to stay with her...?

How about: ...trying to bring myself to stay with her...?
That doesn't work for me. Perhaps "trying to convince myself to stay with her".
