A girl is bikini-waxing her sister and then says while she is laughing :
"This is a job and a half"

What is the meaning of this expression?

Thanks,

It's a bigger or more difficult job than she thought it was going to be when she started.

The idea of calling a big thing 'a thing and a half' isn't specific to English. In Latin poetry - which is divided into stress patterns called 'feet' - there was a kind of foot called a sesquipes which was defined as 'a foot that was as long as a foot and a half' (which it was).

From this English gets the word 'sesquipedalian', used to describe very long words. (It's not common, and is often used in a context that mixes the jocular with the academic.)
