Hi, everyone. Could you please check the second sentence? The past perfect tenses come before and after since. Is it correct?


  1. " I haven't met Jenny since I left school", said John
  2. John said he hadn't met Jenny since he had left school.
 
No. Since he left school.
 
  1. "I haven't met Jenny since I left school", said John.
  2. John said he hadn't met Jenny since he had left school.

Note my corrections to the spacing and punctuation in sentence #1 above. I find the use of "met" there a little unnatural. I'd use "seen". I might use "met up with" too.
 
Yes, it is correct.
 
We can't use "... since we left school", can we?

If you and Jenny left the same school at the same time, you can use that.
