Which is correct?

(A) John Smith, a planning committee member, told us the decision would be made next week.
(B) John Smith, planning committee member, told us the decision would be made next week.

Who wrote those sentences? If it wasn't you, where did you find them? You must provide the source of all text.
Most importantly, once you've given us that information, which one do you think is correct and why?

Thank you for your reply, emsr2d2.

I wrote these sentences.

I’m completely confused about which one is correct. Even when I ask different generative AI sites using similar sentences, I get different answers depending on where I ask.

I'll lock this thread as you've had a perfectly satisfactory answer from WR. When you post the same question on two different forums, it's good practice to let both of those forums know that you've done so, and provide each of them a link to your other thread.
