"This vault . . . is full of . . . knifejacks.” Rovender pointed up. “If they’re disturbed . . . we’re in trouble....
The ground shook. Dust rained down from the ceiling. A few of the knifejacks opened their glowing eyes and squeaked, then settled back down.

Do you know what is a knifejack? I looked up in dictionaries, but could only find jacknife but it didn't make sense for the usage here... Could it be a bat?

(They are in the underground basement of a building by the way.)
 
If this is from the fantasy story The Search for WondLa, by Tony DiTerlizzi, ovvpapatya, you could have said so to save us having to search for it.

It's an imaginary, fictional creature. The author made it up to frighten the children.
